Windows Vista has introduced many new concepts of security. Network location type is one of those new implementations which can stop sharing. Just in-case you observe that on previous day everything was working and next day sharing is ceased, check following
- Go to Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center\
- Click on customize.
- Check the Location type. Change it to Private to enable file sharing and network computer access...change it to public so that FTP and other services will be disabled.
Warning
Choosing "Private" permanently changes the firewall configuration to allow communication. This can be a security risk. For more information, see Windows Vista Help.
