HTC Legend can be upgraded to CyanogenMod 7.1.0. Here are simple steps for it:
Preparation:
1. Download CyanogenMod 7.1.0 build for HTC Legend from (About 88 MB): http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=legend
2. Download Google Appl for HTC Legend (About 13 MB) from:http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version#Google_Apps
3. Copy both these downloaded .zip flies for SD card of HTC Legend.
4. Install RomManager if not done earlier
Main course:
1. Open RomManager, select "Reboot into Recovery"
2. Let phone re-boot and show you text-based menu.
3. Scroll to "backup and restore" using volume buttons, select using trackball press button.
4. Select "Backup", provide name for your backup (This may take upto 5 minutes)
5. After backup is done, the main menu will be displayed (If not automatic then do it manually)
6. Select "wipe data/factory reset" (If you want to erase all your local settings (themes, colors etc))
7. Select "wipe cache partition" (If it's required)
8. Select "install zip from sdcard"
9. Select "choose zip from sdcard"
10. Select "CyanogenMod" file downloaded. Complete the process.
11. After installation is done, the main menu will be displayed (If not automatic then do it manually)
12. Select "install zip from sdcard"
13. Select "choose zip from sdcard"
14. Select "Google Apps" file downloaded. Complete the process.
15. Select "reboot system now"
