XP disk management depends on following two services viz. Logical Disk Manager and Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service.
If in case XP disk management is giving some kind of error or not at-all showing "any" disks do following:
1. Type following in "Run" box: services.msc
2. Search for Logical Disk Manager and see it's properties. Its startup type should be "Automatic"
3. Search for Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service and see it's properties. Its startup type should be "Manual"
4. Right click on Logical Disk Manager, select All Tasks --> Restart
5. Right click on Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service, select All Tasks --> Restart
This should solve the problem!
