portable LaTeX on Windows

A quick guide to install portable LaTeX and TeXstudio on Windows as portable edition.

 Preparation

  1. Download portable edition of MiKTeX from: https://miktex.org/portable
  2. Download portable edition of TeXstudio from: https://www.texstudio.org/#download
Steps
  1. miktex-portable-.exe, and provide path, where you want to extract it.
  2. Extract texstudio.zip
  3. Run texstudio.exe
    • Goto: Options --> Configure TeXstudio
    • Select "Commands"
    • Provide all paths for LaTeX, pdfLaTeX etc. from /texmfs/install/miktex/bin/
  4. Build & View any .tex file

Hints
  • During first Build & View all required packages would be downloaded and installed by TeXstudio / MiKTeX
  • If any package is giving error, take following steps:
    • Open command prompt at: \texmfs\install\miktex\bin\mpm.exe
    • Search the package name
    • Click on "+" icon and install the package
